Playing for Coach Winslow was an exciting time, He would get everyone hyped up to play in the cold, wet games. He would electrify the team. He was very tough on the players though, if you made a mistake he would tell you, if you’re not going 110% he will tell you. He wanted the best from his players not just the average of them. From his history of playing lacrosse he is very experienced, he knew what to do whenever I had a question about defense. One of my favorite times with him is when it was freezing out, 8:00 am on a random Sunday but he was the first one there getting the team all ready for the game, giving pep talks about how the defense has to be aggressive, the attack has to move the ball around, and how the middies got to give it there all every play. We got into the game and everyone was ready to play. The feeling of my first varsity game was ecstatic. And it’s a memory I will forever cherish.

Over the past 3 years I had Coach Winslow as my coach and I absolutely loved him. Coach Winslow never let you get away with going anywhere below 100% on the field. I still look back and remember our Sunday practices in the gym and realized how hard he pushed us. The team always was ready on time and if we weren’t, Winslow had something to say about it. I would love to go back and experience his coaching style one last time. He demanded excellence, and if you weren’t pushing yourself to the limit, you would hear his voice echo across the field. Winslow's intensity was unmatched—he expected not just physical effort, but complete focus from the moment practice started. I remember one practice when a few of us were slacking off, and he made us run drills until we were completely exhausted. His tough-love approach wasn't for everyone, but for those of us who embraced it, we grew stronger as players and as a team. Coach Winslow didn’t just want us to win; he wanted us to play with integrity, discipline, and a relentless drive to succeed.

I have known Coach Winslow for almost nine years. He has been everything from a coach, educator and friend to me. I have had the pleasure of being coached by him in lacrosse, track, football and I even had the joy of coaching beside him on a few occasions. All of which we had a tremendous amount of growth and success. It was in these experiences where I learned about his tenacious want for success and commitment for personal growth. The first time I had Mr. Winslow coach me in lacrosse I had been as an eighth grader on junior varsity. He was adamant I play up as he felt it was important for the growth of me as a player. The two seasons on JV I spent with him were some of the most physically exhausting yet mentally rewarding days in my life. He asked the world of me by learning to play offensive midfield while continuing to play LSM. He made sure that when the whistle blew I gave my all each and every game. This vision had worked as our JV team in both years had one of if not the best records in school’s history. I ended my second JV season with over 25 goals, 15 assists and numerous caused turnovers. Coach Winslow had been one of the most impactful people in my life both on and off the field and has inspired me to challenge myself always.
